"Our survivor stories are spiritual experiences between the land and the people. Reestablishing equitable balance means we have to teach our female children who they are and empower them to take their rightful places in the community. Because the earth is female it is the women who must lead the work of restoring the environment to where it was before human interference. When women speak of trauma, we are speaking for the land who cannot speak for herself."
